slope of the hips,
the long draping hair,
and big expressive eyes,

word game right,
jeans real tight,
and shit, she seems pretty kind too,

she can be real scatter-brained though,
she wears a geeky retainer at night,
and gets a tad quiet if she's feelin' self-conscious,

there will be this, but way more of that,
plenty of care and attention,
she got responsibilities to handle too,

but man, she's worth it.

  1. Hi! I know you don't know me, but I'm Paige, a junior at a Michigan high school. For lit class we have to comment on blogs that aren't written by my classmates, so I kept clicking the "next blog" button until I came across a blog I wanted to comment on, and I found yours!

I really love this poem. Not only can I relate to it in a few ways (the retainer, the scatter brain, the responsibilities, the occasional self-consciousness), but I also love the ending. Us girls ARE worth it. Sometimes I can be grumpy, tired, impatient, snappy, or stressed; sometimes I'm all five. I feel like I tend to take it out on my boyfriend more often then not because he's the one who I'll usually vent to about how stressed I am with school. Sometimes I feel bad for him because I get so grumpy around him, but thankfully, he says "it's ok" and gives me a hug. I don't know how he puts up with me. But like you said, even though us girls can sometimes be a lot to handle, we're definitely worth it.
Thanks for writing this awesome poem and posting it; I love it :)
